"After the Snow Falls"

"After the Snow Falls" is a compilation of three separate images I took favorite elements from, and voila !

Roughly 20 hours went into putting it together, and I must say I surprised myself. It's a first attempt at a monochromatic approach. There's usually lots and lots of color in whatever I choose to paint...I guess I believed that color keeps the composition interesting. I'm learning that color plays a small role in an interesting composition.....

For me, one of the beauties of creative expression is the learning......the unexpected lessons are most interesting and fun!

The last time I used black pastel paper I wasn't sure I liked the outcome. This time - I'm pleased. What do you think? Please leave a comment to let me know. As always...thank you for stopping by !

That's worked really well - especially the speed of the water - I can almost hear it. I have to say, I love drawing on black pastel paper when you've got a predominantly dark picture, and it makes such sense for this picture where you're adding the water on in white. I think what's also helped is that you've got some nice solid white at the bottom, which gives it a nice balance between the black and the white.

Great picture - looking forward to seeing more!

Lot's of movement. Very busy but as Rachel says that large area of white balances things. Continue creating and thrive!

Very nice. I see a man in the background, kind of leaning over doing something...how very wonderful.

What I think is WOW !!!
This is one of your very best. Very Best. I would like to say I am suprised, but I am not. There is so much more in you waiting to come out and I cannot wait to see. You know I am partial to shading, black, white and grey. With your precision, technique, fine eye and imagination, no wonder I almost fell out of my chair.

Thank you :0) :0) ;O)
Love you
